Dragging MIDI Region or Copy/Pasting From Stock Instrument Track to Kontakt Results in No Playback

I can't copy paste MIDI data from a MIDI region onto a Kontakt track in Logic. Doing so results in no playback on the Kontakt track. I'd have to rewrite all of the MIDI data from scratch.
