Garage Band crash

Garage Band 10.4.8 running on MacBook Pro (M1) using 13.3.1 MacOS.

I start a new project, create a new track, play anything through KK, save and exit. When I try to re-open GarageBand it just crashes. Is there something obvious I missed in the set up or configuration?

I gave all of the apps full disk access. It just seems like I am missing something obvious.

any tips or suggestions?

Do you ask at the producer of Garage Band? Is there a forum or support?

I don’t have any other issues with Garage Band. I just recently got the KK M32 keyboard and since then it has caused Garage Band to crash. I can use other NI plug-ins without issue.

I just kind of assumed I did something wrong in set up.

@Pennysscar Where are these projects stored? On an external hard drive? What instruments?libraries are used? Is Komplete Kontrol working as expected in standalone? Do the crashes happen if the keyboard is disconnected?

NI and all of my projects are stored on the internal hard-drive.

I haven’t done a comprehensive attempt, iv’e just been picking random instruments through KK. The last one I tried was from ‘Session Guitarist -Strummed Acoustic 2’.

I can run KK in stand alone mode, but I’ve not tried to save anything.

Garage Band will crash with or without the keyboard connected.

@Pennysscar There were a couple of Kontakt bugs related to the Session Guitarist libraries. As Komplete Kontrol loads Kontakt in the background, make sure you update Kontakt to the latest version (7.5.1).

If you use Kontakt instead of Komplete Kontrol, does it crash too?

    So ... 😁

Kontakt did need to be updated to 7.5.1, which I did.

I tried the same instrument through KK and was unable to open the saved project. I tried a different instrument from FM8 ([PRIS]2) just as a random choice. I was able to create and save the project, but I am unable to re-open the project

I was able to use Kontakt directly and I was able to create a track, save it and then re-open it successfully.

Any updates as to how this issue was fixed?

I seem to be having the same (or a very similar) issue

The last recommendation was to reinstall GarageBand, which I feel is unnecessary. No other aspect of GB has an issue. The support person said:

there isn't anything else I can think of, unfortunately Garageband doesn't have as many options as Logic so there is less to try, and it worked for me so that is what I would recommend at this stage
