Ok to update Mac to current iOS system with Traktor S4 Mk 3

Hi all, last time I updated my iOS system a couple years ago was when I missed the email about not updating and screwing up my traktor controller I had just bought which thankfully wasn’t too screwed up but I did have to send it back. I’m about to do a Logic Pro course and want to upgrade the iOS to the latest so I can have latest version of Logic, is this ok now and how do I go about it? I also play a gig every weekend so can’t screw it up again! Cheers Sarah
