What does this gradient mean in the mapping editor?

One zone is solid, and the other is not. I can't figure out why. I'm trying to troubleshoot a dropped round robin note and I think this might have something to do with it.
Can someone tell me what the gradient means?
Edit: Figured it out. It appears when you control+click on the bottom or top border of the zone and drag. It creates a fade I believe.

Hello,
could be that there where some layers before, you can batch create velocity x fades and then it looks also like that. And you can batch remove it.

Yeah, you got it. It's a velocity cross-fade. Thanks!

Also works horizontally.
