Audition a sound using Massive X without a midi keyboard?

in Massive X & Synths

As I'm learning Massive X, I'd like to be able to audition sounds after I make changes without a midi keyboard (I don't have one) or having to open it in my DAW (Ableton). I've opened it in KK and can audition the presets, but don't know whether I can send a midi signal through the synth without a midi keyboard. I looked for it in Reactor but couldn't find it. Thanks.

    On SaviHost or VSTHost by the same author you can use your computer keyboard to play notes if you point the mouse arrow on the virtual keyboard.

    SaviHost ist for 32-bit and 64-bit available. vstHost has an internal bridge for both systems and can drive vst 3 also. Both can record audio.

    Myself use a simple daw only to arrange audioclips (single snapshot audio from mostly Reaktor) and render the song or soundesign track, it's an old Magix Music Maker from 2009. Runs good in win 10 pro.

    You can use any midi file player with virtual midi cables like loopMIDI.

    Start Massive X in SaviHost.

    Connect the output of the midi file player via loopMIDI with the SaviHost midi input.

    Or use a virtual midi keyboard instead of a midi file player. You've to google it. Myself knows no link for you.

    Ok, that's good to know. I'm finding that using it in the DAW isn't as bad as I expected - it's somewhat easier to hear the sounds and results when I have specific notes playing, so I can match the sound to the notes and create the entire vibe. So I may find that my typical workflow will be using in Ableton, but I'll check those options out because I like to have some flexibility in how I work. Thanks again.

    For my own genre AmbieGarde (Ambience plus Avantgarde) I don't need a daw.
