Hello,

Is there any way to have the Studio Drummer embedded SOLID effects show in the parameters list, along with all the mixer parameters, so they can be controlled with a Kontroller ?

Thanks.

The Solid G-EQ, Transient Master, Solid Bus Comp, and Tape Saturator as well as Reverb room type are not assignable to any automation parameters from within the instrument in Kontakt or when wrapped in Komplete Kontrol. It is also not commonly automatable if EFX are inserted into the Plugin Chain in KK.

The best way to automate (and therefore control from a HW surface) any of the above mentioned EFX is to apply them to the FX plugin bin in your DAW, where the host should be able to expose most parameters to an automation lane, and also to the Keyboard HW, if your host allows it.

You can go under the hood (Wrench Icon) in Kontakt (in Edit mode) and Drag-n-drop any available CC# to a control in any of the Insert Effects; IDK if they will show up on the Keyboard HW in NKS mode, but should be available if the Keyboard is in MIDI mode, and then they can be recorded as MIDI automation in your DAW. The downside to this is that there is no visual feedback to the Plugin/FX GUI from the knobs, but the parameter can be heard editing.

Most of the time the FX that are embedded are a 'set & forget' type. If you want to automate, try adding the EFX in the proper bin in your DAW.

Read the section in the Kontakt manual about the automation tab parameters for more explanation.

Maybe @JesterMgee or @Blindeddie have alternative approaches.

    Hi Brad,

    Thank you for your answer.

Well it is an interesting concept but putting KK HW in MIDI mode kind of defeats the workflow with KK.

What remains is to do it the long way, that I was hoping to avoid, creating a set of direct outputs in Kontakt,

then creating enough tracks in the DAW (I'm using Reaper) to receive the separated drums.

This of course has the advantage of using any VST with access to all the parameters.

I know that Studio Drummer is an old instrument but it is still my favorite acoustic drums.

    Thanks again.
