Purchase Just Before Recent Upgrade and Hard Drive Minimum Specs for PC

Hello,

Around 3 mos. ago, I purchased the Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition upgrade (from Sweetwater). I haven't been able to actually do anything with it since it requires so much storage space. I've just found the time to figure out how best to proceed with upgrading my laptop. I have 2 questions:

1) Does NI provide any ability to trade in an earlier version when a new one comes out so soon after you purchase it (note the box is still sealed) - without having to pay some $4-500 for an upgrade?

2) Regardless of the answer to that question, I am going to have to purchase a new internal or external hard drive to house the libraries due to the massive content. Is there any way to find out minimum specifications for a hard drive that will be suitable for it, as I don't want to purchase a hard drive and find out it doesn't have sufficient specs to handle the content?

Thank you,

cohenville

Get yourself a 1 TB SSD external like this...https://a.co/d/8zevied works great!

@cohenville There is a grace period, depending on when and where you bought the upgrade, unfortunately 3 months wouldn't be in that grace period. You would have to check with my colleagues though: https://bit.ly/NISupport_OP

If you didn't use K13UCE yet, you could also wait for a promotion on updates/upgrades, they happen regularly and it will give you time with what you have already.

For a hard drive, we don't have any recommendations, what @Blindeddie should be more than enough.

I would recomend more than 1 TB, 1.5 TB would be minimum required, 2 TB would be better.

Also, if you can install it, I would recomend NVMe SSD. It is significantly faster than SATA SSD. At least in my experience.

    EDIT:

Download size of K14U CE is 1 TB, part of the content will be on system disc, but still. If 1 TB would be enought, it would be too small very soon....

    Sixth line of table.

Thanks for the answers. I chatted with NI registration support and they said nothing they could do to help.

The suggestions re hard drive specs was very helpful!
