i have the bad idea to assign network libraries on another PC (windows)

as is worked for previous versions without any trouble.

it need to re edit the ContentDir location with ":" prefix or it crash.

previous version don't make this, even with a wrong location. it load normally.

:\\THE OTHER PC\c\Library name (works)

\\THE OTHER PC\c\Library name make (crash)

i also found that without native access installed or a previous version launched. a regedit key is not generated and make it also crash.(previous versions generate this key)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Shared

uret-machine-id REG_Z xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

maybe it can help other users and the dev team. thank you.

the prefix content location crash if you assign many library, not only one.

relocate make nothing, it need a regedit modif.

the network drive issue is fixed. even if it is longer to load, it works.

it only need a mounted drive with a letter prefix to load.

:\\THE OTHER PC\c\Library name .... will show the nicnt image only

and an Instruments folder never accessible.(it don't works)

remain the crashing issue in this 2 cases that prior versions don't make. something is strange in this build.

Hey @bob Have you tried deleting this file ?

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Kontakt\DB\kontaktdb2_56

Then open Kontakt again to enable it to rebuild the database. Does that make the crashes stop ?

this happend on a fresh machine.

without nothing else from native instruments installed. the database is even not builded with the missing regedit key, it make a empty file size 0

is is really related to the regedit key not created by this build. the uret machine-id data.

the crash dont stop with or without the database file, empty or complete.

it really need to open another older build to create this key and build the database complete.

you can check it by yourself if you delete this key. other buid or native access will repair it.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Shared

    uret-machine-id

someone checking the player alone will have a crash

    this is the crash log

Hey @bob As Kaiwan said, network drives are not officially supported. Does Kontakt crash if you don't modify anything and have libraries on a physical drive ? If this is the case I will get in touch by email so our Kontakt specialists look into it.

no it only crash with bad adress without letters.particullary with \\ , :\\ is a few better it show the nicnt image, but give an unreachable Instruments folder. mounted network drive adress with a letter is OK.

other build don't crash from the same issue.

it is a second layer in the crash issue

i found only 2 from this bad idea test, maybe there are some left. but it is related to this build only.

it is not a usual behaviour.

Same issue with 6.7.1, this missing key will crash kontakt the same way if used alone.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Shared

    uret-machine-id

Hey Bob, as said before, network drives are not officially supported, nor is editing regedit.

I mean, Kontakt does support network drives, the option is right there... The knowledgebase article mentions that network drives are not recommended, but not that they are not supported.

Oh, ok, I'll forward the case to the Kontakt team then.
