Session Guitarist: Electric Ruby Deluxe very slow

I found that opening 'Session Guitarist: Electric Ruby Deluxe' is very slow and laggy. It is much slower than other Session Guitarist products. Can this issue be fixed? My computer is very new! 265K CPU, 128GB RAM, PCIe 5.0 SSD. However, opening 'Session Guitarist: Electric Ruby Deluxe' is still very slow and laggy.

When I used KONTAKT to load the Electric Ruby Deluxe.nki file, I found it incredibly slow. This was a problem for me.

I noticed that many NI guitars have been updated, which is great.

However, some older guitar songs don't have music categories in the browser. Why not add them?

By slow I'm assuming you mean it's slow to load. That can have lots of different meanings and reasons. You can load it in Kontakt standalone which is different than loading the instrument into your DAW. But loading is highly dependent on the configuration and health of your computer, ie amount of computer memory, type of storage (disk drive or SSD) or where it's stored such as on your system drive or additional drive. All of my libraries are stored on external SSD drives and load in just a few seconds. If you have it loaded on a regular system hard drive you'll be competing with all of the other basic Windows processes that are running which can slow things down a bit depending on your system and it's memory.

By songs I'm assuming you're referring to the various playing patterns. I personally don't have Electric Ruby but they all work the same. The song name isn't really exclusive to the specific style or music, it just represents a picking/strumming pattern the sound of which can be changed via the sound preset selection.

Since Electric Ruby is the newest instrument in this collection, I'm sure they'll be adding and enhancing it over time as they've done on their other Session Guitarist libraries.

Is it happening in Kontakt in standalone? In a DAW? What are your audio settings? Is the library installed on the same location as your other libraries?

Many people say it's slow and laggy. I think the reason is that the effects processor is too complex. The effects processor should be optimized.

I think it is slow and laggy due to something else you have going on over there - starting with possibly your graphics processor and/or resolution.

My machine is nowhere near as powerful as yours and I do not see any issues running with NO third party graphics card (iGPU) and Standard HD resolution (1920x1080).

This instrument is just as snappy as any other Session series guitar that I have here.

Same here on my PC which is nowhere near what you've got. Generally speaking when one library stands out as extraordinarily slow it tends to be either Windows Protector interfering with the functional scans of antimalware or a problem within the DAW with the allocation of buffer space or other parameters.

My other NI guitars are all fast. Only the Electric Ruby Deluxe is noticeably slow. It has nothing to do with the graphics card or virus scans. It's a design issue with the Electric Ruby Deluxe itself; the effects are too complex.

The same computer, the same hard drive, all in the same folder. In the same environment. It's only very slow when I open Electric Ruby Deluxe. Don't make me repeat myself again. I'll say it one last time. Opening Electric Ruby Deluxe is very slow.

And you are allowed to think whatever you want. Your experience is unique to your machine.

However - if this was it truly a rampant design problem - we would all see it.

Hey easy, not necessary to use this tone. I'm trying to help here, to do a proper reproduction and report to the responsible team I need some info. You also mention this: "Many people say it's slow and laggy." Would you mind telling us where? If you have links to share, please do, it also helps to make a case.

I was actually able to reproduce slower loading times with Electric Ruby and Electric Storm vs Electric Mint for example. I reported it to the team and am waiting for feedback on the matter.

When I open Electric Ruby Deluxe, it is noticeably slow. Switching tones is also slow. I found that the effects on Electric Ruby Deluxe might be the main reason for the slow speed.

You might need to give us a detailed breakdown of your computer hardware. CPU, Memory you noted by what kind of hard drives are you running over there? Is this a workstation or a laptop?

POWER TIP 1: If you are not running your Kontakt libraries off a modern NVMe drive - and maybe are still using an older SSD drive or even an old school rust spinner HDD - there can be vast differences in the load time for any library.

POWER TIP 2: If you are running Windows and have not told Defender to back off from ALL your DAW activities and especially Kontakt itself - this background scanning alone can add multiple seconds to load time.

As mentioned in my earlier post - my machine (CPU, RAM etc) is behind yours by about 2.5 years - but my Kontakt libraries run on a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 5.0 drive that results in about a 2 second load time for Ruby.

You need to clarify your hardware because it makes no sense with what I see here and what you showed in the video.

Also - Ruby and the newer Session libraries - ARE bigger, more complex and may require more resources - but I am not seeing a huge difference here. All I can start with here - is drive speed.

No worries. Thanks for the video, I could also reproduce that long loading time with a M1 Mac but I can also use that video to show to the responsible teams.

In the meantime, maybe @Vocalpoint tips can help.
